"Bridging nature and technology will lead to new innovative solutions."

Product designer Lilian van Daal bridges with her work the natural and the artificial - or designed - world. She experiments with innovative technologies and materials in order to meticulously mimic nature. With the resulting objects she aspires to reveal nature’s rich library of solutions. The emphasis is on the imitation and adjustment of structures to optimize production methods in a sustainable way.

She also focuses on the reconnection with nature in our daily environments. It is scientifically proven that surrounding ourselves with ‘naturalness’ is beneficial for our physical, mental and emotional health. While people benefit from their connection with the natural world, the environment also benefits when people feel connected and comitted to caring for the Earth.

To achieve this, she collaborates with scientists, biologists, universities, architects and commercial companies.

With her work she received several awards and her work has been exhibited all around the world. Objects are acquired by musea and institutions like the Centre Pompidou in Paris, France or NEOM in Saudi Arabia.

Over the years she has worked for Studio Drift, Feiz Design, Bleijh Concept & Design, StudioMOM and Philips Design. Her educational background covers as well Industrial Product Design as a conceptual Postgraduate Course at the Royal College of Art – The Hague.
