Adaptive Scales: Biomimicry in Energy Infrastructure

Inspired by natural growth patterns and adaptive biological systems, the transformer house features a modular skin of scales that optimize ventilation, material efficiency, and visual integration within the landscape. The scales can be adapted to local contexts, creating site-specific solutions for both urban and rural environments.

From Utility Asset to Living Ecosystem

Beyond its technical function, the substation was reimagined as a biodiversity-enhancing asset. By integrating ecological features into its structure and material palette, the design functions as a habitat and ecological stepping stone for insects, birds, and other species, strengthening local biodiversity networks within the built environment.

Regenerating Energy Infrastructure Through Biomimicry

This project demonstrates how biomimicry can transform essential energy infrastructure into regenerative systems that create value for both people and nature.
